অনলাইন লার্নিং হলো একটি মেশিন লার্নিং প্যারাডাইম যেখানে একটি মডেলকে একটি নির্দিষ্ট ডেটাসেটের উপর একবার প্রশিক্ষণ দেওয়ার পরিবর্তে, প্রতিটি নতুন ডেটা পয়েন্ট আসার সাথে সাথে ক্রমবর্ধমানভাবে আপডেট করা হয়। এটি অপরিহার্য যখন ডেটা অবিচ্ছিন্নভাবে প্রবাহিত হয়, স্টোরেজ সীমিত থাকে, বা অন্তর্নিহিত ডিস্ট্রিবিউশন সময়ের সাথে সাথে পরিবর্তিত হয়। তাত্ত্বিক কর্মক্ষমতা অতীতের সেরা নির্দিষ্ট ভবিষ্যদ্বাণীর (predictor) সাপেক্ষে সঞ্চিত ক্ষতির (cumulative regret) মাধ্যমে পরিমাপ করা হয়।
