合成対照法（Synthetic Control Method, SCM）は、Abadie、Diamond、Hainmuellerによって2010年に導入された手法であり、非処置群のドナーユニットのプールから単一の処置済みユニットに対する加重された反実仮想を構築する。これは、大規模な政策介入、自然実験、および適切な比較ユニットが存在しないN=1のケーススタディを評価するためのゴールドスタンダードとして広く認識されている。
