การถดถอยเชิงพื้นที่แบบถ่วงน้ำหนักเฉพาะที่ (GWR) ประมาณแบบจำลองการถดถอยแยกต่างหาก ณ แต่ละตำแหน่งในพื้นที่ศึกษา ทำให้สัมประสิทธิ์แต่ละตัวสามารถเปลี่ยนแปลงไปตามพื้นที่ได้ โดยการให้น้ำหนักการสังเกตที่อยู่ใกล้เคียงมากกว่าการสังเกตที่อยู่ไกลออกไป GWR จะเปิดเผยว่าความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างตัวทำนายและผลลัพธ์เปลี่ยนแปลงไปอย่างไรในพื้นที่ทางภูมิศาสตร์ แทนที่จะบังคับค่าประมาณทั่วโลกเพียงค่าเดียวกับข้อมูลที่ไม่เป็นเนื้อเดียวกัน
