Maswali ya Tathmini ya Stadi za Utafiti hupima mazoea ya kawaida ya kujifunza, usimamizi wa muda, umakini, na motisha ya kujifunza ya wanafunzi. Yakitokana na utafiti wa msingi wa Tabia na Mitazamo ya Utafiti (Survey of Study Habits and Attitudes - SSHA) (Brown & Holtzman, 1964) na kuboreshwa katika matoleo ya kisasa, SSAQ hubainisha kama wanafunzi wanatumia mbinu za utafiti zinazotokana na ushahidi (mazoezi yaliyopangwa kwa muda, kujipima, kukumbuka kwa vitendo) au mikakati isiyofaa (kusoma kwa haraka, kusoma tena kwa passiv). Taarifa hizi ni muhimu sana kwa wataalamu wa usaidizi wa kitaaluma wanaounda marekebisho ya kujenga stadi yanayolenga mahitaji ya mwanafunzi.
