การวิเคราะห์แก่นสาระเชิงวิพากษ์ (Critical Thematic Analysis หรือ CTA) เป็นแนวทางเชิงคุณภาพที่ผสมผสานกระบวนการถอดรหัสที่เป็นระบบของการวิเคราะห์แก่นสาระของ Braun และ Clarke เข้ากับท่าทีการตั้งคำถามของทฤษฎีวิพากษ์ แทนที่จะเพียงแค่บรรยายรูปแบบในข้อมูล CTA จะตั้งคำถามว่ารูปแบบเหล่านั้นตอบสนองผลประโยชน์ของใคร สะท้อนความสัมพันธ์เชิงอำนาจใด และมีอะไรที่ขาดหายไปหรือถูกทำให้เงียบงันบ้าง วิธีนี้ใช้เพื่อเปิดเผยอุดมการณ์ ความไม่เท่าเทียมเชิงโครงสร้าง และสมมติฐานเชิงอำนาจนำที่ฝังอยู่ในเรื่องเล่าของผู้เข้าร่วมหรือในข้อความ
