Kiwango cha Mahitaji ya Utambuzi (NCS) ni kipimo cha vipengele 18 kinachotathmini tofauti za mtu binafsi katika tabia ya kujihusisha na kufurahia juhudi za utambuzi. Iliyoundwa na John Cacioppo na Richard Petty mwaka 1982, NCS inafafanua mahitaji ya utambuzi kama sifa thabiti ya utu inayoonyesha upendeleo wa kufikiria matatizo magumu, shauku ya shughuli za kiakili, na furaha ya ndani ya changamoto ya utambuzi. Toleo fupi la vipengele 9 (NCS-9) pia linapatikana. Kiwango hiki kimekuwa cha kawaida katika utafiti wa saikolojia unaochunguza motisha ya kujifunza, ushawishi, kufanya maamuzi, na mafanikio ya kitaaluma.
