P-Value na Umuhimu wa Kimahesabu

P-value ni uwezekano wa kuona data ambazo ni ekstremi sawa na zaidi ya zile zilizozingatiwa, kwa kudhani hipothesisi sifuri ni kweli. Imeanzishwa na Ronald Fisher mwaka 1925, ni msingi wa upimaji wa hipothesisi wa mara kwa mara. Umuhimu wa kimahesabu hutangazwa p-value inaposhuka chini ya kiwango kilichowekwa awali (kiwango cha alpha, kwa kawaida 0.05).
