Kilianzishwa na Jerzy Neyman mnamo 1937, kinatoa makadirio ya kipindi badala ya makadirio ya hatua moja, yakijumuisha thamani iliyozingatiwa na kutokuwa na uhakika kuzunguka hapo. Kipindi cha kawaida cha kujiamini cha 95% ni mbadala thabiti na rahisi kuelewa kwa p-values kwa kuwasilisha matokeo ya utafiti.
