Scientometrische analyse past statistische en computationele methoden toe op publicatie- en citatiedata om de groei, structuur en impact van wetenschappelijke velden te meten. Gebaseerd op databases zoals Web of Science, Scopus of OpenAlex, kwantificeert het outputtrends, identificeert het leidende auteurs en instituten, brengt het intellectuele netwerken in kaart en evalueert het de onderzoeksimpact — waarbij grote bibliografische corpora worden getransformeerd tot op bewijs gebaseerde portretten van hoe kennis zich ontwikkelt en verspreidt.
