Full Consistency Method

FUCOM (Full Consistency Method) is a weight subjective multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) method introduced by Pamučar, D., Stević, Ž., Sremac, S. in 2018. It turns a decision matrix of alternatives scored on multiple criteria into a structured, reproducible result.

When to use it

FUCOM requires only n−1 pairwise comparisons (like SWARA) but additionally enforces transitivity via the LP, ensuring mathematical consistency. χ*=0 means perfect consistency. The LP always has a solution (unlike AHP which can be inconsistent). FUCOM is particularly efficient for large n.

Strengths & limitations

Strengths
  • Follows a transparent, reproducible computational procedure that can be audited step by step.
  • Handles multiple criteria of differing scales and units within a single decision matrix.
Limitations
  • Results depend on the chosen normalisation, weights, and parameter settings.
