Account & Data Deletion
Last updated: 16 June 2026
This page explains how to request deletion of your ScholarGate account and the personal data associated with it. ScholarGate is the data controller. You can delete your account yourself from within the app, or ask us to delete it for you.
Option 1 — Delete your account yourself (fastest)
- Sign in to your account at scholargate.app.
- Open your Account page (top-right menu → Account, or go to scholargate.app/en/account).
- In the "Your data" section, choose Delete account.
- Confirm the deletion. Your account and associated data are then removed.
Option 2 — Ask us to delete it
- Open the Contact form at scholargate.app/en/request, or email us.
- Send the request from the email address registered to your account, with the subject "Account deletion".
- We verify it is your account and complete the deletion, normally within 30 days.
What data is deleted
- Your account identity: email address and name.
- Your library: methods you saved and collections you created.
- Your assistant chat history.
- Mobile notification data: your device push token and timezone (if you enabled the daily reminder).
What is retained, and for how long
- Billing and invoice records are kept only as long as required by applicable tax and accounting law, then deleted or anonymised. We never store your card number (it is handled by the payment provider).
- Assistant chat history is in any case automatically purged after a limited period (currently ~90 days) even if you do not delete your account.
- Backups containing your data are rotated out and overwritten within a short, routine retention window.
