LOgarithmic Percentage Change-driven Objective Weighting
LOPCOW (LOgarithmic Percentage Change-driven Objective Weighting) is a weight objective multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) method introduced by Ecer, F., Pamučar, D. in 2022. It turns a decision matrix of alternatives scored on multiple criteria into a structured, reproducible result.

When to use it
LOPCOW assigns higher weight to criteria with larger logarithmic spread across alternatives — similar to MEREC but uses absolute log of the ratio-based normalised value rather than the full log-utility difference. Criteria where all alternatives perform similarly get very low weight.
Strengths & limitations
- Follows a transparent, reproducible computational procedure that can be audited step by step.
- Handles multiple criteria of differing scales and units within a single decision matrix.
- Results depend on the chosen normalisation, weights, and parameter settings.
