ELECTRE-TRI (Outranking-Based Sorting Method with Boundary Profiles (also ELECTRE TRI-B)) is a sorting multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) method introduced by Yu, W. in 1992. It turns a decision matrix of alternatives scored on multiple criteria into a structured, reproducible result.

When to use it
Each alternative is assigned to an ordered category, not given a numerical rank. When pessimistic and optimistic assignments differ, the pair brackets the alternative's robust placement — investigate threshold sensitivity. C_{p+1} is the highest-preference category, C_1 the lowest.
