Softwarekompleksitetsmetrikker kvantificerer kodens strukturelle og operationelle sværhedsgrad gennem numeriske målinger. Cyklomatisk kompleksitet, introduceret af Thomas McCabe i 1976, blev den grundlæggende tilgang. Disse metrikker vurderer vedligeholdelighed, testbarhed og defektrisiko, hvilket gør det muligt for teams at identificere problematiske koderegioner og vejlede refaktoreringsindsatser.
