Metabarcoding ya DNA ya Mazingira (eDNA) hugundua na kutambua spishi zilizopo katika sampuli za mazingira (maji, udongo, hewa) kwa kupanga vipande vifupi vya DNA vilivyotolewa na viumbe. Metabarcoding hupanga mamilioni ya vipande vya DNA, hutambua usomaji kwa njia ya taksonomia, na huwapa spishi. Njia hii haina uvamizi, ni ya haraka, na yenye gharama nafuu, kuwezesha tafiti kubwa za bayoanuai na ugunduzi wa mapema wa spishi fiche au adimu.
