API-gebaseerde gegevensverzameling — Programmatisch ophalen van onderzoeksgegevens
API-gebaseerde gegevensverzameling is een systematische techniek waarbij een onderzoeker gestructureerde verzoeken stuurt naar een applicatieprogrammeersinterface (API) om automatisch gegevens op te halen van digitale platforms, databases of diensten. Het is de primaire methode die in de computationele sociale wetenschappen wordt gebruikt om grootschalige sociale mediagegevens, open overheidsdata, financiële datastromen en inhoud van wetenschappelijke repositories te verzamelen in machineleesbare formaten zoals JSON of XML. Dit maakt reproduceerbare en schaalbare data-acquisitie mogelijk die handmatige verzameling niet kan evenaren.
