Verzameling van data van sensoren op afstand
Het verzamelen van data van sensoren op afstand is de systematische verwerving van metingen van geografisch verspreide sensoren zonder dat er directe menselijke aanwezigheid op elke locatie vereist is. Sensoren registreren continu of periodiek fysische, chemische of biologische variabelen — temperatuur, druk, beweging, licht, GPS-coördinaten — en zenden de metingen draadloos of via een netwerk naar een centrale opslagplaats voor analyse. Veel gebruikt in milieumonitoring, precisielandbouw, gezondheidsinformatica en slimme infrastructuur.
