Bayesian Entropy Balancing breidt de klassieke entropy balancing-aanpak uit — die controlegroepen herwegt zodat hun covariaatmomenten exact overeenkomen met de behandelde groep — door deze herweging in te bedden in een Bayesiaans raamwerk. Dit stelt onderzoekers in staat om voorkennis over behandelingskansen te incorporeren, parameteronzekerheid te propageren naar de uiteindelijke causale schatting, en geloofwaardigheidsintervallen te verkrijgen in plaats van alleen klassieke betrouwbaarheidsintervallen.
