计算机化自适应测试 (CAT) 是一种个体化评估方法，其中计算机算法根据对每位考生潜在能力进行的持续估计来选择后续的测试项目。CAT 以项目反应理论 (Item Response Theory) 为基础，动态地调整项目顺序，使得每个问题在给定当前能力估计值的情况下都能提供最优信息。该框架由 Howard Wainer 及其同事通过 1990 年首次出版并于 2000 年修订的第二版基础指南系统化并推广。
