Critical Netnography — การวิจัยชาติพันธุ์วรรณนาเชิงวิพากษ์ทางออนไลน์
Critical netnography คือ การนำเครื่องมือชาติพันธุ์วรรณนา (ethnographic toolkit) ของ netnography มาประยุกต์ใช้กับชุมชนออนไลน์ โดยเน้นกรอบทฤษฎีเชิงวิพากษ์ (critical theoretical lens) เป็นหลัก เช่น ทฤษฎีเชื้อชาติวิพากษ์ (critical race theory), ทฤษฎีสตรีนิยม (feminist theory), หรือทฤษฎีหลังอาณานิคม (postcolonial theory) แทนที่จะเพียงแค่บรรยายวัฒนธรรมออนไลน์ วิธีการนี้จะตั้งคำถามถึงการทำงานของอำนาจ ความไม่เท่าเทียม และอุดมการณ์ภายในและผ่านพื้นที่ดิจิทัล ทำให้แนวทางนี้เหมาะสมอย่างยิ่งสำหรับนักวิจัยที่ต้องการทำความเข้าใจชีวิตออนไลน์และท้าทายเงื่อนไขทางสังคมที่สะท้อนออกมา
