Slaba nadgledana segmentacija instanci obučava duboke mreže da precizno odrede pojedinačne instance objekata na nivou piksela, koristeći samo jeftine, nepotpune anotacije — kao što su ogradni okviri, oznake na nivou slike ili klikovi na tačke — umesto skupih punih maski po pikselima. Ovo drastično smanjuje napor pri anotiranju, a ipak proizvodi maske na nivou instanci za svaki objekat na slici.
