현장 기반 제도 민족지(현장 IE)는 도로시 스미스의 제도 민족지에 지속적이고 몰입적인 현장 조사를 결합한 질적 접근법입니다. 연구자들은 병원, 학교, 사회 복지 사무소, 교도소 등 실제 제도적 환경에 들어가 텍스트, 정책, 그리고 지역 현장을 넘어 작동하는 지배적 관계에 의해 일상 업무 관행이 어떻게 조정되고 통제되는지를 관찰합니다.
