컴퓨터화 적응 검사(Computerized adaptive testing)는 각 응시자의 변화하는 능력 추정치에 기반하여 실시간으로 문항을 선택하므로, 모든 응시자는 자신의 숙련도 수준에 정확히 맞춰진 검사를 받게 된다. 그 결과는 전체 길이의 고정형 검사와 동일한 정밀도를 잃지 않으면서도 더 짧고 효율적인 측정 도구가 된다.
