古地磁気分析
古地磁気分析とは、岩石の古代の磁気特性を研究するもので、化石磁化を測定して古地磁場履歴を決定し、地質年代を割り当てる手法である。Brunhes (1906) によって開拓され、Tauxe (2010) によって体系化されたこの方法は、地磁気逆転、極移動経路、および化石生層序学とは独立した古地磁気年代学を明らかにする。分析は、実験室での岩石磁気学と野外サンプリングを統合し、高解像度の時間スケールを構築し、プレート運動を制約する。
