Metoda Taguchi utemeljena na riziku kombinira Genichi Taguchijev okvir za robustno projektiranje parametara s eksplicitnom identifikacijom i kvantifikacijom rizika. Preklapanjem sloja procjene rizika — koji se obično oslanja na analizu načina kvara ili probabilistička mjerila — na standardni proces optimizacije omjera signal-šum, pristup odabire postavke faktora koje istovremeno maksimiziraju robusnost performansi i minimiziraju vjerojatnost ili ozbiljnost kvara procesa/proizvoda.
