Terrain Contour Matching

Zamislite da letite iznad planinskog terena i bilježite nadmorsku visinu na svakoj točki duž svoje putanje. Svaka lokacija ima jedinstveni 'potpis nadmorske visine' (niz vrhova i udubljenja). Ako imate kartu topografske visine i otprilike znate gdje se nalazite, možete kliziti svojim izmjerenim profilom nadmorske visine po karti i pronaći najbolje podudaranje. Tamo gdje je podudaranje najbolje, vi ste. Ovo je podudaranje kontura terena: dvodimenzionalna metoda navigacije koja funkcionira kada GPS nije dostupan.
