Novel Approach to Imprecise Assessment and Decision Environments
NAIADE (Novel Approach to Imprecise Assessment and Decision Environments) is a ranking multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) method introduced by Munda, G. in 1995. It turns a decision matrix of alternatives scored on multiple criteria into a structured, reproducible result.

When to use it
φ_i ∈ [−1, 1]. Higher φ means greater net pairwise inequality advantage. NAIADE is weight-free by design. The α parameter controls what counts as 'similar' vs 'different' performance. α=0 → crisp sign comparison (like REGIME); α=1 → all differences ignored (all φ=0). NAIADE also supports equity analysis across stakeholder groups.
Strengths & limitations
- Follows a transparent, reproducible computational procedure that can be audited step by step.
- Handles multiple criteria of differing scales and units within a single decision matrix.
- Assumes full compensation — a strong score on one criterion can offset a weak score on another.
