Robust Cronbach's alpha เป็นค่าสัมประสิทธิ์ความสอดคล้องภายใน (internal consistency coefficient) ที่ปรับปรุงมาจากค่า Cronbach's alpha แบบดั้งเดิม ให้เหมาะสมกับข้อมูลที่ไม่เป็นไปตามข้อกำหนดของการแจกแจงแบบปกติหลายตัวแปร (multivariate normality) หรือมีค่าผิดปกติที่มีอิทธิพล (influential outliers) โดยการแทนที่เมทริกซ์ความแปรปรวนร่วมของตัวอย่าง (sample covariance matrix) แบบทั่วไปด้วยเมทริกซ์ความแปรปรวนร่วมที่ทนทาน (robust counterpart) ทำให้ได้ค่าประมาณความน่าเชื่อถือ (reliability estimate) ที่ไม่ถูกบิดเบือนจากการแจกแจงของคำตอบที่ไม่ปกติ การปนเปื้อนของข้อมูล หรือการละเมิดข้อกำหนดของโมเดลเล็กน้อย ซึ่งเป็นสิ่งที่พบได้ทั่วไปในการทำงานด้านการวัดผลทางจิตวิทยา (psychometric work)
