Paralaksi ya Astrometry (Parallax)

Paralaksi ya astrometry ni njia ya kimsingi ya kijiometri ya kupima umbali wa nyota zilizo karibu, kulingana na kuangalia mabadiliko yanayoonekana katika nafasi ya nyota wakati Dunia inapozunguka Jua. Ilithibitishwa kwa mafanikio kwa mara ya kwanza na Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel mnamo 1838 kwa nyota 61 Cygni, paralaksi inabaki kuwa kipimo cha umbali cha moja kwa moja na cha kuaminika zaidi katika astronomia, ikitengeneza ngazi nzima ya umbali wa angani.
