Aproksimacija Born-Oppenhajmer

Aproksimacija Born-Oppenhajmer (BO) je fundamentalna pretpostavka u molekulskoj kvantnoj mehanici koja podrazumeva da se jezgra mogu tretirati kao fiksirana prilikom rešavanja za elektrone, i obrnuto. Uvedena od strane Borna i Openhajmera 1927. godine, ova separacija smanjuje složeni problem više tela elektrona i jezgara na niz jednostavnijih problema, omogućavajući skoro sve molekulske proračune.
