Analiza robusne sposobnosti procesa proširuje klasične indekse sposobnosti (Cp, Cpk, Ppk) zamenom prosečne vrednosti uzorka i standardne devijacije robustnim proceniteljima lokacije i skale — kao što su medijana, skraćeni prosečni, MAD ili raspon zasnovan na IQR — tako da odstupajuće vrednosti i nenormalne distribucije procesa ne naduvaju ili izobliče procenu sposobnosti. Rezultat je pouzdanija procena da li proces proizvodnje ili usluge može dosledno da zadovolji granične vrednosti specifikacije.
