| Zhrnutie≠ | The Mindful Attention Awareness Scale (MAAS), developed by Brown and Ryan in 2003, is a 15-item measure of dispositional mindfulness—the tendency to maintain present-moment awareness in daily life. Operationalizing mindfulness as the capacity to pay attention to what is happening now rather than being caught in automatic thought or rumination, the MAAS assesses a core dimension of well-being. Research shows mindfulness predicts reduced stress and anxiety, improved emotion regulation, and greater psychological well-being and resilience. | The Positive Mental Health Scale (PMHS) is a brief instrument developed to measure mental well-being by assessing the presence of positive mental health dimensions rather than the absence of disorder. Rather than focusing solely on symptom reduction, the PMHS operationalizes mental health as an active state characterized by personal strengths, resilience, coping capacity, and positive functioning. It represents a paradigm shift toward strength-based mental health assessment, viewing mental health and mental illness as distinct continua rather than opposite ends of a single spectrum. |
