Testul binomial exact verifică dacă numărul observat de succese într-un număr fix de încercări independente este compatibil cu o probabilitate pre-specificată de succes p₀. Deoarece calculează probabilități exacte din coada distribuției binomiale, în loc să se bazeze pe o aproximare normală, acesta este standardul de aur pentru testarea unei proporții în eșantioane mici; această formulare bilaterală urmează tratamentul clasic al lui Siegel & Castellan (1988).
