Agentbasert dynamisk programmering (ABDP) inkorporerer Bellmans rammeverk for dynamisk programmering i individuelle agenter i en agentbasert modell, slik at hver agent kan løse sekvensielle, flertrinns beslutningsproblemer ved hjelp av baklengs induksjon eller verdifunksjonsiterasjon. Resultatet er en populasjon av optimaliserende agenter hvis interaksjoner genererer emergent systemnivåatferd.
