Polytomisk reliabilitetsanalyse estimerer den interne konsistensen eller målingspresisjonen for skalaer som består av elementer med mer enn to ordnede svaralternativer, som Likert-type, vurderings- eller delpoengselementer. Den korrigerer for en velkjent underestimeringsskjevhet i konvensjonell Cronbachs alfa ved å arbeide med polykorrelasjoner eller IRT-baserte presisjonsindekser.
