Risikobasert Quality Function Deployment (Risikobasert QFD) integrerer formell risikoanalyse — oftest Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) eller risikomatriser — i det klassiske QFD House of Quality-rammeverket. Ved å vekte kundekrav og ingeniørkarakteristikker mot deres tilhørende feilrisikoer, prioriterer team design- og prosessbeslutninger ikke bare basert på kundens viktighet, men også basert på potensiell skade, regulatorisk eksponering eller pålitelighetspåvirkning. Det brukes mye i utvikling av bil-, luftfart-, medisinsk utstyr- og industrivarer.
