Et svakt veiledet tilbakevendende nevralt nettverk (RNN) trener et slikt nettverk på sekvenser der etikettene kommer fra ufullkomne kilder – heuristiske regler, fjernveiledning, folkefinansiering eller generative etikettmodeller – i stedet for kostbar ekspertannotering. Dette lar forskere utnytte store umerkede korpus for sekvensielle oppgaver som tekstklassifisering, navngitt enhetsgjenkjenning eller tidsserieprediksjon når fullstendig annoterte data er knappe eller kostbare.
