Syntetisk kontrollmetode for heterogene behandlingseffekter (HTE-SCM) utvider det klassiske syntetiske kontrollrammeverket ved å tillate at den kausale effekten av en intervensjon varierer over tidsperioder, undergrupper eller utfallsvariasjoner, i stedet for å redusere den til ett enkelt gjennomsnittlig estimat. Den kombinerer logikken for motfaktisk donor-pool-matching fra Abadie et al. (2010) med moderne maskineri for heterogene effekter for å gjenopprette tidsvarierende eller undergruppe-spesifikke behandlingsforløp.
