Analisis pengantaraan kausal ialah rangka kerja kontrafaktual yang membahagikan kesan keseluruhan sesuatu rawatan kepada Kesan Langsung Semula Jadi (NDE) dan Kesan Tidak Langsung Semula Jadi (NIE) yang melalui pemedium. Pendekatan umum moden telah diformalkan oleh Pearl (2001) dan Imai, Keele dan Tingley (2010), memberikan penguraian tafsiran kausal yang tepat.
