스트라우스식 근거 이론은 안젤름 스트라우스와 줄리엣 코빈이 개발한 체계적인 질적 방법론으로, 구조화된 코딩 절차를 통해 데이터로부터 귀납적으로 이론을 생성한다. 탐색적 기술과는 달리, 연구 중인 현상을 경험한 참여자로부터 수집된 경험적 증거에 모든 이론적 주장을 직접 근거하여 사회적 과정이 어떻게 전개되는지를 설명하는 실질적인 중간 범위 이론을 생산하는 것을 목표로 한다.
