참여적 사례 연구는 사례 연구의 틀 안에 참여 원칙을 내재화한 질적 설계입니다. 참여자는 단순한 연구 대상이 아니라 연구 질문을 공동으로 정의하고, 데이터를 공동으로 생성하며, 분석에 기여하고, 결과를 검증하는 능동적인 협력자입니다. 이 접근법은 특정하고 제한된 맥락에 대한 깊은 이해가 필요하고, 연구 대상 공동체나 집단이 자신들의 상황에 대한 지식 생산을 형성할 능력과 권리를 모두 가지고 있을 때 적합합니다.
