Pioneered by Keith Rayner, eye-tracking reveals which parts of text attract attention, how long readers spend on different words, and how eye movements relate to comprehension difficulties. Metrics like fixation duration and saccade length provide objective, millisecond-level data on cognitive processing. Eye-tracking is now a standard tool for studying reading, comprehension, and attention.
