概要Machine learning-assisted gene set enrichment analysis (ML-GSEA) extends the classical GSEA framework by incorporating supervised or unsupervised ML models — such as random forests, neural networks, or deep learning architectures — to improve the detection, ranking, and biological interpretation of enriched gene sets from high-throughput expression data. The approach is particularly valuable for complex, non-linear gene-set relationships that classical enrichment statistics may miss.Gene Set Enrichment Analysis (GSEA) is a computational method that determines whether a predefined set of genes — representing a biological pathway, process, or function — shows statistically significant, coordinated differences between two biological conditions. Unlike simple fold-change filtering, GSEA operates on all measured genes ranked by a correlation metric, detecting subtle but consistent shifts across an entire pathway even when no single gene passes a significance threshold.
