Desain studi peristiwa spasial mengestimasi efek kausal dinamis dari guncangan atau kebijakan yang terkonsentrasi secara geografis dengan memplot bagaimana hasil di lokasi yang terkena dampak berkembang relatif terhadap lokasi yang tidak terkena dampak di berbagai periode waktu, sambil secara eksplisit memperhitungkan limpahan spasial dan autokorelasi di seluruh unit geografis.
