Desain studi peristiwa adalah model perbedaan-dalam-perbedaan yang digeneralisasi yang memperkirakan koefisien efek perlakuan terpisah untuk setiap periode sebelum dan sesudah intervensi, melacak dinamika efek dari waktu ke waktu. Bentuk modernnya yang kuat terhadap heterogenitas dikembangkan oleh Sun & Abraham (2021) dan Callaway & Sant'Anna (2021).
