Reaktivna destilacija

Reaktivna destilacija spaja reakciju i separaciju u jednom stupcu, gdje se reaktanti kontinuirano odvajaju od produkata dok istovremeno reagiraju na katalitičkim etažama. Ovaj proces intenzifikacije, pionirski razvijen 1990-ih od strane Klausa Sundmachera i drugih, drastično smanjuje kapitalne troškove, potrošnju energije i utjecaj na okoliš za odgovarajuće reakcije. Sada je industrijski dokazan za procese esterifikacije, hidratacije i transesterifikacije.
