Analyse af rettet modularitet udvider det klassiske Newman-Girvan modularitetsframework til rettede grafer, hvor kanter har en kilde og en destination. Formaliseret af Leicht og Newman i 2008, opdeler den knuder i fællesskaber ved at maksimere en modularitetsscore, der tager højde for hver knudes separate ind-grad og ud-grad i null-modellen, hvilket gør den til standardtilgangen for fællesskabsdetektion i citationsnetværk, informationsflows og andre asymmetriske relationelle data.
