Risikobaseret quality function deployment (Risk-based QFD) integrerer formel risikoanalyse — oftest Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) eller risikomatricer — i det klassiske QFD House of Quality-framework. Ved at vægte kundekrav og ingeniørmæssige karakteristika mod deres tilknyttede fejlisici, prioriterer teams design- og procesbeslutninger ikke kun efter kundens vigtighed, men også efter potentiel skade, regulatorisk eksponering eller påvirkning af pålidelighed.
