Rumlig entropibalancering udvider standard entropibalancering til observationelle indstillinger, hvor enheder er indlejret i geografisk rum, idet den inkorporerer rumlig struktur i omvægtningen, så balance opnås, samtidig med at rumlig nærhed, klyngedannelse eller spillovers-afhængigheder mellem enheder respekteres.
