Netværksbaseret metabolomik analyse integrerer kvantitative metabolitprofileringsdata med biologiske netværksstrukturer – metaboliske veje, protein-metabolit interaktionsgrafer og sygdomsnetværk – for at afsløre koordinerede biokemiske forstyrrelser, som individuelle metabolitlister ville overse. I stedet for at behandle hver metabolit isoleret identificerer denne system-niveau tilgang moduler, hubs og perturbere delnetværk, hvilket giver mekanistisk indsigt i, hvordan metabolisk dysregulering forplanter sig gennem cellulære systemer.
